RIDE INSPIRATION: Bayshore Trail
Distance: 4.5 miles (9 miles round-trip)
Time: 1 to 2 hours
At 4.5 miles long and 10 feet wide, Bayshore Linear Park Trail is often referred to as the “World’s Longest Continuous Sidewalk”. A three mile on-road bike lane also exists along the north-bound lane of Bayshore Boulevard between Rome Avenue and Gandy Boulevard. With scenic views paralleling Tampa Bay, you’ll pass some of the city’s most prestigious homes, many on the National Historic Register.
For a more leisurely journey, dip in and out of residential streets adjacent to the trail, and explore the tree-covered streets of the Historic Hyde Park district. You’ll find an array of historic homes and gardens, each with its own flair and character.
Be sure to make a stop at the end of the trail in Ballast Point Park for a cold beverage or a quick snack at Taste of Boston, or take a detour to the north on Rome Ave to visit Hyde Park Village. Here, charming brick walkways offer a backdrop for a variety of high-end shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
